Introduction '08
From Macska Travel Co.
[edit] Overview
There are two distinct parts to this year's trip, which will affect the pace, scope, and location of our travels.
- CERN and European Side Trips From May 15 to August 1, 2008, we will both be working at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. This will comprise a standard 40(+) hr work week, thus the majority of our time will be spent rooted in one place (and probably working like dogs. Happy dogs, of course). Hopefully, we'll get the full experience of living abroad - encountering all the daily trials and tribulations of life in Geneva. We plan to take advantage of our very central location and explore various nooks and crannies of Europe with weekend trips.
- On the Road in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Japan, and Australia Similar to last year's trip, our initial intentions were fairly modest. "Wouldn't a jaunt to Thailand be swell after our summer's work?" This quickly morphed into the demi-round-the-world trip you see laid out in the following pages. We will be traveling together until Japan, where Matt will fly home on August 23 to prepare for Fall Semester. Kat will continue on to Australia before flying home to LA and beginning classes at the end of September.
