The US State Department's Travel website is quite a nice resource for getting a feel for what the situation abroad is in different countries and how much we have to worry. There is some nice Travel Information -- including advisories, the new travelling requirements for US citizens, and some various documents. In particular, we've been advised to register ourselves with foreign embassies.
